Language: Dhivehi is the official language of the Maldivian people, a mix of Arabic, Hindi, Portuguese and others. All resort staff speak English, which is the predominant language used across the islands.
Currency: The Maldivian Rufiyaa is the local currency, though it is not used at hotels. All resorts accept USD, EUR and CAD, plus major credit and debit cards. Guests typically never need to convert to local currency during their stay.
Climate: The Maldives enjoys a near-constant temperature of around 30°C all year round. The dry season runs from December to April; the southwest monsoon from May to November brings some rain.
